I totally understand why Dahl is out of the marine fuel filter business. The instructions on their website are very complete.........except for step #1 which does not work. Putting a container under the filter and opening the petcock to drain the filter does not work that way. The fuel will not drain because it forms a vacuum. What you need to do is loosen one of the fuel lines on top of the housing to let air in, that will allow the fuel to drain out. A small but important detail for the process to be successful that is not included in the instructions.
That tablespoon of fuel? Perhaps I ran the electric pump a little long. It took longer to clean up the mess then it did to change the filter, even with the bleed screw wrapped in shop rags. Man oh man, diesel fuel stinks......
