we have almost nothing on the back, front, or deck. But I had the luxury of designing it that way. Based on what I have seen recently, *most* boats out there actually cruising (or is it "kroozing") have a lot of this stuff. That begs the question: when are the production builders going to wake up and build what people seem to want? You need adequate tankage so you don't have 8 jerry cans on deck, a place to put the dinghy, some protection in the cockpit, a place to put the radar, etc. I could guess that the larger portion of the boats they sell rarely leave the dock, and so don't end up needing all that stuff and maybe that is the answer.
Then again, maybe these folks don't need some of this crap...
