And yet one more boat gone, this time in RI
Looked to me like an oldish woodish boat
Equus -- a W46
It is always sad to see....
I was aboard the first W-46 years ago at Annapolis, and the phrase "work of art" barely begins to do it justice...
I think you asked in an earlier post....
When a boat burns and sinks, how do you solve the mystery?
Here's a W46.
I follow every cable on our boat...
Ouch, bad news about those switches...
I just learned ...
That's the first I've heard of a Li- battery fire
What did the Boeing Dreamliners use?
Several boats lost to lithium ion...
I have only heard of the Li ion batts as starting batteries...
My spousal unit has a Prius with Li Ion batteries in the back........
Spousal unit?
Ah, you know, modern times...spouse 2.0 and the last one.
My 2005 Prius uses NiMH batteries and likely your wife's too.
Boeing's Li batteries and laptop/consumer device Li batteries are completely different chemistries
I was thinking, LI batteries are everywhere, anyway.
Here is a quick overview, Tom

Wasn't that determined
They may have over charged the batteries -- but I recall it was the batteries that burned.
There have been several recalls of lithium ion batteries in laptops
One casual report said they were motorsailing.
Got rid of both my AB switches this year.
found this description of Lithium Ion battery hazards over on Sailing Anarchy
I made the switch to simple ON/OFF switches years ago, never looked back...
Anyone know.....
