You're right. Many holes needed on a boat are small an in a tight spot. I don't expect much torque or power from it.
In fact I nearly never touched it in decades of homebuilding. You need power all day long in tools for that. Boat though, it's more useful in the tight spots required.
And the old 9V tools seem to hold a charge for a long time, most of the season. To top it off, it's small and light, the only reason I keep it on board.
I think for a new cordless drill I'd buy one of the smallest Makitas that are double jointed for either straight or 90 degree. In decades I've never needed much from a drill on a boat,...once it's launched.
