You only need a very large charger if you are cycling your batteries. Unless your batteries get significantly discharged a small battery charger will work fine.

You need to monitor that three step charger so ensure that it is doing what it claims. Especially when you first get it hooked up. Then check the water lever about once a month and you are good to go.
