We had 50 amps for that compressor when it was running. The battery banks really would rather draw 10 amps for two hours instead of 50 amps for a 1/2 hour. ;^)))

Still, I think that the issue isn't replenishment if you have an expensive battery bank. If you keep the batteries at float with the charger -- AND THE SMART CHARGER controller is really working "smart" and sensing the voltage at battery banks, and NOT the panel, then you'd probably be okay. But I doubt that's what will be happening.

On our Mastervolt we have the house bank, both engine and generator batteries, all on their own shunts (total of 4 shunts). We actually can monitor temperature, voltage, amp hours, amps in-out, etc. at each of those points.

If you measure and control the wrong feature, you really aren't being "SMART" in what you're delivering to the system.
