Jeez TD, 8000GPH? You make me feel so bad I'm going to add a new project to the list for the winter.
I know I have a pump and a float switch although I have never tested the switch. The pump lives on the end of a piece of flat stock that is bolted to the engine pan and disappears down into the darkness of the sump. I know it has power because I can hear it run when I activate the switch.
After reading this thread I think it's time to serious up and take a good look at the system.
