It is in a 78 year old wooden boat
In Response To: I feel so inadequate ()

Bilge pumps are kind of a big deal on wooden boats, particularly older ones. The large pump works, but has never come on. It is really only there for right after launch when the boat leaks quite a bit for the first few hours while the planks swell after drying over the winter. You never know how bad the initial leaking will be, hence the big pump. So far it hasn't come on, but it was close this year. The two 1100 gph pumps were cycling every 30-40 seconds right after launch. I don't expect next year to be so bad because the boat isn't going to spend any time in a heated shop this winter.

The electric pump on my Allied is only a 1500 gph.
