Craig, heavy resistance or other loads are precisely those that a 12v cigarette lighter outlet shouldn't be handling

The Blue Sea Systems one claims to be 2.1A.
If your phone goes on "roam", then the power needs go much more than if it's locked into a "friendly" digital signal.
