The tugs are really responsive when you call them by name. We have a Class B AIS (plus radar at the helm) which pops their name up on the screen. In fact, I often get calls from them when we're in a channel or near it if the wind or other conditions are tricky at all. They confirm "one toot or two" (i.e., one or two whistles -- port to port or starboard to starboard); and sometimes ask us to give them room by moving over if they're having issues with their tow or making a turn. I really appreciate the notice and exchange. We leave VHF 13 on while monitoring that plus VHF 16 at the same time.
