personal consumer weather stations

Dan -(nl)I had a La Crosse WS 3610-11 model and the quality of the wind meter is poor. Basically a toy. It failed a few years back during Sandy when the winds peaked somewhere close to 100, and I took it down. The WS3610 probably isn't current anymore, but the wind sensor looked just like the ones they sell today. The main unit and the temp/humidity sensor were OK. La Crosse tech support is difficult to reach in my limited experience. They left me on hold a long time then a recording told me how important they think my call is, and promised that if I leave a message they will call back in the order my message was received. I tried that 2 consecutive weeks leaving my cell number but got no call-back -- then after the third try I gave up when prompted to leave a message, and made a 4h call as if I wanted to place an order (got right through) and politely gave the poor lady an earful about my frustration, and she offered to escalate to management so yes there is someone "home" but would you buy from them again after that experience? I won't. Edit: BTW they never did call me back.

I've been a fan of Weather Underground for many years and a paid subscriber. Not only does your $5/year remove the ads, but it also gives you the ability to receive customized weather alerts to text and/or email (multiple addresses) and select the areas and types of alerts you want.
