After months.......

of making our way down the west coast of the US, and the Baha, and rounding into the Sea of Cortez just past Cabo. we slid into a FINE anchorage, protected but more than a mile wide. We set anchor and started to relax. Not long after a power boat, maybe 25 ~ 30 ft. came into the anchorage and motored between us and the beach, upwind of us. He dropped anchor and settled back to within 20 Ft. of us, OVER our anchor, so I could not have moved even if I wanted to!

I went out on the foredeck and crossed my arms and just looked at him. I did not say a word. After a few min he came on his back deck and said I should stop staring at him. I just looked at him, NOT A WORD. He hollered that he would only be staying an hour. I stayed on the foredeck. He and his guests finally got the idea after about 2 hours and did move down the beach about 1/4 mile. THEN, as the sun set on a fine day, he took out his spot light and kept shining it at us. No problem, we have shades. Later in the evening he and a couple of his crew took to there dink and went zipping by us with a largish wake, OVER AND OVER again! Our boat is stable so it was not all that bad.

Here we were in Mexico, and the ONLY problem we have ever had with another boater, is with a U.S. person!

When we looked at our cruising guide, we noticed that the suggested anchor spot was just about where we were. SSSOOOOOOoooooo, from then on, we made it a point to NOT anchor in the exact spot a cruising guide put that anchor symbol. AND, never had another problem like that again! I may be slow, but I can learn.
