Drawing 30in with the rudder down, we often can often find a spot even in a crowded anchorage. One afternoon we came into Broad Creek on the Magothy and after avoiding several raftups, anchored in about 4 ft of water at low tide near a small island. A bit later a rather large sailboat came in threading his way through the channel and then through the raft-ups obviously looking for a spot. As he started to head towards us, he called out "how much water over there, captain?" Before either one of us could answer he stopped suddenly well aground. "6 feet here!" he shouted cheerfully, let go his anchor and chain and broke out the drinks. He floated off later and we never worried about him swinging over our way.
