Our experience taught us that Larry is right.
We tried headsets on our 50' boat but after a while we became very good at hand signals and pointing. It also looks very cool.
We drive through the anchorage a couple of times and discuss where SHE wants to anchor, (OK, sometimes I get my way). After that, if you trust each other, use hand signals and experience to drop the hook in the right place. Only difference Larry and I have is that the person at the helm gives the commands. After the anchor is in the water the bow takes over to pay out the chain.
It really doesn't need to look like Eileen Quinn had you in mind when she wrote 'Anchoring Dance'.
