Damn, I'm always envious of boats that can back up. We had a skeg hung rudder. Boats with skeg hung rudders usually don't back up unless there's a bow thruster involved.
I once watched a guy backing down a finger standing on the wrong side of the wheel looking directly at where he was going. He came down the finger and turned the boat into the slip without a bow thruster. All while facing the stern. I saw him go by while laying below in the main salon, flipped him off angrily and came up to watch a wonderful maneuver that was impossible for me and my skeg hung rudder.
The boat was a larger Jeanneau. Damn that boat backs up nicely. Anytime we backed into a slip we either needed 2 people on the dock or at minimum the inflatable pushing the bow around.
