Parallel with the wave jusr as you reach it. Turn hard to spin the boat exactly on the top of the wave.. Once you are on top of it put the rudder hard over then back to center to counter the roll and then slid down into the trough. Keep doing this paralleling the waves until they get small enough to turn into and over. I tought this method to my wife and she calls it hopping the wave. You might have to put the the wheel over against the rudder pressure a couple of times to counter the roll but you can get the hang of it. We have a full keel boat and I don't know if it will work with a fin. Once you master t the teckniqueh you'll never steer into a wave again.
