We have a similar situation with the Cape Cod Canal. With the current running west with a falling tide and the late afternoon sea breeze set up, add to it high speed powerboats, tugs and barges, ships, and jet skies, it is no place for a sailboat. Worse yet when you get into the so called "land cut", the waves reflect off the walls and make it that much worse. Of course the 10 mi/hr speed limit is totally ignored by the sportfish. Our solution is never, never go through on a weekend, and try to go through after dark.
