Pot warp

I can picture it now. Freeing that boat would be a nightmare. I can't image sailing that in Maine with such an underwater array. Even in LIS we have to keep a constant watch for pots.

Pot warp aside, the realities of conditions and wind/angle/current make such high speeds attainable only under the right conditions, which for a cruiser will be fleeting moments between less than optimum sailing. In my relatively mundane "performance cruiser" my planning speed is 5-6 knots even though we regularly sail at higher speeds and can sustain low teens under optimal flat water conditions. It's the law of averages. Looking at my past tracks in Coastal Explorer, on any long sail we average below 8 knots typically.
