As I go through my list of gear that failed on our transatlantic. . . . We come to the head. We have a Thetford/WC Headmate II, which is now discontinued. We have had nothing but trouble with this head (and most others) -- it recirculates feces, takes a lot of pumping to evacuate, occasionally fountains in your face, overflows, the jets in the bowl plug up with the aforesaid recirculated stuff . . .
Strangely enough, I can't find a "head to head" comparison of all the units on the market on Practical Sailor's website.
I am not interested in wiring in an electric head, I just want the best, most reliable, least disgusting manual head made. Unfortunately, they all seem to be based on the same design with a single piston carrying inlet water and effluent, and a inevitably leaking and mixing the two. Any suggestions?
