The push pit approach might be ok but I haven't tried it. Painters are a no-no except when you're confident of calm conditions. We hoist ours up on the nets and tie it inverted. If I didn't have nets I'd invert it on the cabin top.
We remove the motor with a small crane and carry it on a pad on the stern rail. I've tried every method of lifting the dinghy with the spinnaker halyard, and the best is to use one line on the bow to lift it vertically, and walk the stern around as needed to position it.
