When you talk about other boaters recognizing a flare particularly during the daytime the experiences of many sailors I have talked to was nobody noticed. One friend was able to summon a nearby boater by waving his arms after burning all his flares to no effect. The LED flare is not CG rated for day use just CG rated for night use they give you an orange flag with black Square and triangle for legal day use. I don't expect many of my fellow mariners would recognize that flag any more than my black anchor ball.... or boats flying diver down flags without anyone in the water...or man overboard flags without a man overboard. There are tons ofgreat options to stay safe out there it is just I am not counting on seamanship from others. Don't get me started on the range of bizzare running light configurations I see.
