My club has some property about 12 miles from the harbour where we have a couple of corn boils/BBQ weekends every year. There was a 40 foot long slip and slide (6 mil poly with soapy water on it), egg toss and some other games. My 8 year old started sailing school this year and there were a few kids she knew from sailing so I didn't see her much, she was off with her friends. Great sailing Monday on the way back home. I often see boats motoring with their sails down but Monday was 10-15 knots of wind on the beam for the trip back to town and everyone was sailing. Lots of boats out enjoying the warm weather and the last long weekend of summer. There was a solo sailor just ahead of us with his spinnaker up, when the wind started to gust up to 20 knots you could see it was more than he wanted to handle. He rounded up, dropped the sail in the water and hauled it in. It was a a soggy mess but it was under control.
This picture doesn't really do it justice but we saw about 40 ~ 50 boats under sail on the way home as well as about 20 kite sailors.
