Go Figure!

We took a leisurely three days to move the boat about 100 miles this weekend, back home to western LIS.

Saturday night was a stop in Mattituck NY (eastern Long Island). If you don't know Mattituck, it's a small well protected Federal Anchorage a few miles down a river. Good holding in thick mud bottom. The river is clean and beautiful -- lined with salt marshes, wooded areas and nice homes with rustic docks. The town of Mattituck is a short walk from the dinghy dock.

As in any anchorage, there may be one boat that just doesn't fit nicely with others. Whether it's a noisy generator, or a loud raft-up, or someone who anchors wrong in relation to other boats. In this case it was an anchoring issue. So what on earth made this guy think it's a good idea to use a stern anchor? Note that he's facing about 120-degrees relative to all the other boats, and that orange ball marks his stern anchor. Boat name is OFF THE CHARTS.
