I was looking at the interior layout of the Mainecat 38 and thinking it would be nice to have the galley and head together in the same hull, with one sleeping cabin. This would become the “owner’s cabin” or parent’s cabin. It would have the following advantages:(nl)1) When parents cruise with teens or young adults it would give them morning/overnight access to the head and galley without waking the kids (who are more likely to want to sleep later). Guests also.(nl)2) It would move all the plumbing and thru-hulls to one hull. That might be a slight cost savings.(nl)What do you think?
I asked Dick about this and he replied "All things are possible since we have no molded components for the interior accommodations."
I think that would be more "livable" when you sleep aboard. If you cruise as a couple that would make the second hull sort of an extra space that wouldn't be used as much, since the high traffic would be to the hull with head and galley.
OTOH if as a couple one of you likes to get up early and make coffee while the other sleeps in, the standard config shown might be better. Might be better weight distribution also when you pack up the boat for cruising, but you could manage that, and tank location/fullness would be a big factor.
