The only possible 2 reasons I see requiring all chain
In Response To: Chain length/catenary vs. weight for anchor rode --shorter length of 3/8" vs. longer and equal weight length of 5/16" ()

are anchoring in a hurricane or if you are anchoring where your rode will drag across coral if you swing.

Since I do neither, I have 25' of chain, even with an over-sized for my boat electric windlass.
