I love it for home applications. It's easy to work with, fast, and very economical if you use the crimp collar system. I don't think it would be as easy to work with on a boat, at least not a smaller boat. It won't turn a corner like the reinforced h/c tubing from marine suppliers. When I re plumbed my boat last, I can recall many turns Pex wouldn't have done (it' s prone to kinking if you force it into too much bend).
While it's easy with Pex to crimp on an elbow, I like being able to drill all my holes, and lead two continuous lengths galley to head, or where ever, secure the soft tubing along the way, and close things up. No joints along the way.
Sort of what we call the "rough in" in home building. Then make the connections at each end, there's nothing to do in between. I couldn't have done that with Pex tubing.
