What advantage does it have over a conventional cat rig?

I don't see any. It is more complicated, loads the components to significantly higher stresses, and offers no aerodynamic advantages that I can see. The extreme effort to get a wire luff is not justified by theory or practice in most conditions. The planform can be achieved with a conventional square head main. I suppose it might be a little easier to jibe.
