for a couple to cruise. However, efficiency is a concept that can be defined in a lot of ways on a boat. It seems that a lot of boats have systems that are designed as labour savers that require either a lot of upfront labour to afford them or a lot to maintain them. Perhaps the Pardey's or Beth and Evans have it right in that it is more efficient overall not to have them at all. These boats develped over a long time frame and were no doubt very efficient for their intended purpose To my mind I question the "efficiency" of a couple cruising a big boat with a rig that requires electric winches and or a complex leisurefurl boom to handle. It mustn't seem to efficient when something fails. As always, best regards. David
