135

Hi Tom,

We have a 135% genny on GREYHAWK. It's the right size most of the time, at least for summer in Maine. For fall sailing, I think I would go with something smaller, as the winds seem to be a bit stronger and pack more punch than in the summer.

Our rig is a tall, masthead sloop with a large J and relatively small E measurement.

We have a foam luff pad on the sail, which is supposed to help preserve some semblance of shape when the sail is partially furled. We also have easily adjustable genoa cars and a fully slotted toe rail, both valuable for changing the sheeting position as necessary.

We do occaisionaly sail with the jib partially rolled up, but in a good blow we'll set up our inner forestay and hoist our small jib on that. The relative areas are as follows: genny = approximately 458 ft^2; small jib = approximately 228 ft^2. As you can see, we really need something of intermediate size, like a 100% jib which would be about 339 ft^2.

Recently, we've been sailing about 1000 nm a season.
