We have a short rig running a 150 . Only 60 feet off the water for a 50 foot boat and is really a 'performance motorsailor' needing at least 12 knots to get anywhere. When the wind pipes up to more than 20 we partially furl it and put one reef in the main. When it gets more than 30 we switch to a hank on yankee that we bought used and tack it on a Soilent Stay directly behind the furler. We don't beat to weather, we motorsail using 130 horse of Perkins.
We have an old 3/4 oz asymmetrical and wanted something flatter so we ordered a new sail. It didn't end up that way and we ended up with a 1.5 oz really large asymmetrical.. Should have just purchased a Code 0. That's what it needs. That's what I want but it won't happen. I'm finished adding equipment to the boat.
