the problem is the end-boom sheeting. We did a lot of thinking about this project last year, and determined that it's really not possible to fit a full-width dodger on. The sheeting arrangement would interfere with the aft end of a full-width dodger.
The other issue is the Lexan dome, the one that Eisberg secretly covets . Well, a full-width dodger would fit over it/around it, but it would be kind of weird.
My plan --eventually-- is maybe to remove the bubble, cover the hole in the deck with a piece plate welded on (and put a liner in the interior ceiling to match the surrounding liner), and then build a hard dodger, to fit the s.s. cockpit coaming, as you mentioned...it seems built for that purpose (dodger).
Sure is easier, though, to just wear a full immersion suit and a sou'wester hat instead when it's cold and rainy, which is what we'd normally do... I admit it though --I do want a hard dodger eventually, for high latitudes (like this: http://bethandevans.com/hawk.htm), but that would mean changing to mid-boom sheeting. None of this is in the budget in the near future, alas!
