Replacing the core you removed leaving a 6" diamter circle arounf the thru-hull penetration and reglassing. Build the thickness of solid glass around the thru-hull up to 3/8" or so and then mount the new thru-hull on a suitable backing block through the solid glass.

Wet core tends to lose its bond to the skins which creates a weak spot in your hull.
