Have you called Grady White?

They have a great reputation. As I recall someone telling me about theirs a few years ago, they have a balsa core system for their hull sides. I don't know if its end grain or not.
If you give them a call they may have suggestions or offer some assistance in the matter.

- If your blade isn't long enough, get the 1/8" X 1" aluminum at the auto parts store.

- Not a good plan. Band-aid repairs like that make a boat into a POS over time.
