there is the problem of access from the inside! I can barely reach the area where the thru hull sits. And remember, this is not an 1 1/2 bronze thru hull on the bottom, this is a 1 inch drain thru hull, with no seacock attached. So while I would prefer to cut out the inner skin and then build up layers of mat and roving, it is not very easy to get to.
What I am going to do today is to first use a shop vac to see what liquid I can get out of the area. Then I will drill 3 or 4 eigth inch holes underneath the thru hull hole, but not below the bottom of the boat. I will then let this dry for a while, heat with a hair dryer or heat gun and decide where to go from there. There is obviously no way I can remove too much inner skin and reglass since I can't get access to more than about a foot forward of the thru hull hole.
