Why am I amazed that cruisers still crash into reefs and lose their boats, especially in well charted NZ waters?
Maybe you're amazed because you haven't hit a reef?
Last month we hit a reef at almost 6 knots.

Similar to my impression that a similar percentage of ICW cruisers calling Sea Tow immediately after a grounding...
