NMEA in- / NMEA out-

Dan:

What other instruments do you have on the boat that are (or you would like) to connect together? Do you have a NMEA hub or a PC or VHF or instruments (wind, paddlewheel, etc)?

Does your HDS have an integrated GPS or are you using the AIS-1000's AIS?

I couldn't look at the WM AIS-1000's manual on line -- but the Lowrance appears to have a combination power/data cable. The data portion has both NMEA in and NMEA out connections that you need to make.

I AM NOT A GURU ON THIS, but unless you have a hub, I believe that you will need to think through what you're planning on connecting and how you want to daisy chain equipment together.

I'd suggest first, that you CALL WEST MARINE and ask them to walk you through it; or, describe what's in the AIS manual that you have for their unit and maybe one of us here can figure it out with you.
