() Yes, there is a big difference in oil intended for Diesel use and automotive use. The dealership uses Shell Rotella, my Yanmar manual calls for different weight oil based on the temps the engine will be used. I use straight 30 Rotella.
The BMW diesel in the Catalina also called for diesel grade oil. Once again, a straight weight oil was specified. BTW, I ended up at the Peterbuilt dealer figuring they were the local experts and I needed the valves and valve seats done on the BMW.
