The mooring field was empty a few weeks ago but there was still plenty of wild life ashore.
We brought our folding bikes and explored a bit, and climbed the tower. The view from the top is worth the climb, which is a bit of a workout. Jan and I were inspired by the spirit of a blind woman who went up with her friends, and seemed to be just as excited as her friends to share their descriptions of the view.
This is the first time I went to P-town. The Provincetown Marina that runs most of the moorings had no launch service after Labor Day. Flyer's still had launch service but their "launch" has a lot of hard edges and was more than a bit intimidating (even though the driver is very competent and accommodating) so we launched our dinghy anyway after the first trip ashore. I recommend if you go there other than July/August to anchor and use the town dinghy dock (we'll do that next time if we stop there again). You're supposed to have a permit to use the dinghy dock but the harbormaster didn't care, said they weren't going to ticket anyone.
