the dilema of bare feet...

OK I know some of you are going to say... "wear shoes, period," and I understand.

But let's step outside of that for a moment and assume that bare feet are fun.

We have found that we like bare feet... it's a small boat and it is easy to get around in bare feet... and oddly this is the one place where the admiral enjoys no shoes (she is a shoe freak).

So here is the problem... the companionway steps. The top step especially... it is very slippery. Works fine with boat shoes... but we enjoy bare feet.

I have been toying with putting on some non-skid... but I hesitate for two reasons... it will detract from the otherwise nice wooden step, and I am not sure that I would like non-skid under my bare feet. (the stuff can be brutal) What I probably would prefer is some sort of rubberized coating, or something like that.

I am looking for suggestions... any ideas... other than "wear shoes?"
