Pics can be deceiving, of course, and things can look mighty different from a helicopter...
I liked this part
Real men would have scuttled her...
It would be even more ironic if it caused another ship-wreck.
C'mon, Ron - what the hell do you think SPOT is for...? (grin)
That's awful
What!!! You mean we went alll over the Bahamas without a spot??? Horrors!
Charlie, apparently by modern cruising standards
rofl- I know what you mean. You wouldn't believe the times
I sailed into Hope Town in the Bahamas
LOL- and we're 25 feet. And I'm almost 70. (Laura isn't)
Cradle robber.
We're talking about getting into the commuter cruising.
I agree Charlie, our boat is only one foot longer...
Well, back in the 80's I was sailing in a Cape Dory 30.
Hell, we didn't even have a chart plotter - everyone thought we were Amish sailors
Didn't look like no 40-knot winds in the picture
And the waves were six to eight FEET
Did I misread it, or is the deceiving picture the one of the daughter of the deceased...?
She does look a bit on the "chipper side".
Or just happy to be pulled out of a sinking boat
We shell...I too believe (or hope) that it was misleading.
Everyone has their own way of dealing with losing a loved one. We laugh and we cry.
Wow, I don't know the sailor from Camden, but sat out Hurricane Earl with the captain that lost his best friend.
Here's another account, absolutely heartbreaking...
I had some dealings with Wagner..
Maybe the story meant "Celadon"?
Confirmation
Would lover to hear about what the cause was -- if you ever find-out
Probably never know
Don't give-up hope.. You weren't on the boat?

Sent you an e-mail....via this board..
Water seeping in around the bilge pump?

Yeah, but what did it FEEL like...?
feel like
Sorry, I should have used the sarcasm icon...
LMAO!
I was passing buckets up through the companionway before wondering if this was it but...
Rob, that's a hell of idea for private enterprise!
good idea but I just got done pimpin out a new Gulfstream G650 and so I'm a little strapped for cash.
It really is sort of an interesting idea to ponder.......
Actually,...
Sorry, but I am not sure about the Salvage Laws
Jon, You have talked about problems with tethering in.
Interesting question/observation
The force on a single tether has lost a lot of sailors
When I was still working, a situation
Yeah, I've pretty much settled on the use of fixed tethers around the boat...
For me it's relieving myself
LOL! One of the principal advantages of singlehanding...
That "flies" on my boat too. (pun intended)
Jon, how long is your fixed tether at the mast?
By "fixed tether" I am envisioning...
Length is probably around 10 feet...
I use a nylon jack line that hooks to a fitting
Our permanent mast tether is two feet - seems to be plenty.
Dan, that's pretty much how we have our tethers set up except
