With an 'E' of 36' and a 'P' of 15.2', going with single line reefing was a nonstarter. The 3rd reef would have a tail of 68'. Would be all day hauling that in especially since much of it would probably have to be winched in because of the blocks and 90 degree turns. Even the first reef would have had a 20' tail.
Bought a ZSpar internal clew reefing boom. Ran the clew lines to port and the tack to stbd through clutches and a winch. Have marked the halyard so just drop the sail to the mark on the halyard, and pull in the tack by hand and retention the halyard. Then haul in the clew finishing up on the self tailing winch. Takes about a minute without super long spaghetti tails cluttering up the boat. BTW, it's all done from the saftey of the cockpit, nice and dry and comfy under the dodger in less than a minute.
