From Gobi to Success

This is my best shot in a while as a candidate for the GOBI award. Oh how I hate "stainless" steel!

I got a wicked case of galling while dummying up my Hydrovane windvane. It wasn't until later I read the tips online about galling the 10mm (BIG!) nuts and bolts. The only good news was that I had just bought a cheap angle grinder for another part of the job and I also had a deck shower handy to the lazarette so I could put out the ensuing fires as I ground the nut and bolt. I felt STOOPID but got through it.

My son the mechanical engineer called me a wimp for not just torquing the bolt to the point of fracture. That's what wiseacre sons are for I guess!
