Best way to lash main rudder with wheel steering?
In Response To: First Trial ()

Okay... that was the entertainment, now the real reason for posting... the Hydrovane is an auxiliary rudder system which relies on fairly balanced sail trim and the main rudder fixed to compensate for residual weather helm. My Jefa/Winlock steering system has a rather wimpy and unreliable wheel lock. I need a simple, uncluttered, reliable, easy-to-release, intuitive method of securing the wheel. I'm guessing that this has been solved many times over by various CSBBers. Suggestions are most appreciated. I'm thinking of tapping into somewhere near the bottom aft side of the pedestal and attaching a couple adjustable hooks, one for each direction. I have to admit that it's just plain un-netcherul to lock down the wheel like that! I'll be most grateful for your ideas.
