To my surprise, I had been doing some pretty aggressive motoring, at the top of what I consider tasteful rpms, and very little idling. And she has two alternators. There wasn't even a lot of motorsailing, but there was some nasty pounding into steep seas. My boat originally came with a 75 hp Volvo (on a 35 ft boat!) so the Westerbeke 58 was a come-down. The boat is light for her style though - 12,000 lbs displ. Her performance in general continues to surprise me, for what was expected to be a dog.

Oh, and p.s.I was happy with the fuel consumption, but not the fuel. $5.00/gal at Kingman Marina, Red Brook,MA. THAT'S $75 FOR 15 GALS. I only fueled up to be polite when I docked for water. Won't make that mistake again. Their pumps are conveniently located on land - too far away to see the price.
