First, as Dan says -- the trickle amperage is really not an issue with a house bank of any size.
Secondly, do you have refrigeration or other house loads on at the same time? The problem may be that your system is "balancing" for the ongoing load and the average battery voltage just stays below the threshold.
If you Link was putting out 5 amps all the time, it might be an issue if you had a small house load. Otherwise, it sounds okay to me. Checking the fluid levels often will tell you the story.
I our case, we have a system where our refigeration kicks in often. The average voltage (for AGM's, although higher) is analogous. We say in absorption mode for a while, until the moment that the threshold is reached, then it kicks back. BUT THE KEY is that the amperage stays down. IF the amperage and voltage were up, then you would have a problem.
