We rowed into the Mill Pond that gives Crotch Island it's name. What little history I know started over here with the granite industry a century or so ago. It's still operating today at a new and smaller capacity. This area is a bit somber. I can't imagine how many men(mostly) came from around the world and worked at Crotch Island. Not always a pleasant experience I suspect.
Hard to believe today as it slowly tumbles down, but you can almost feel the past in there.
