I'm laughing because the joke was on the robber. They were distracted at a table when a guy with a survey or something conned them into looking at it. He then lifted one girls purse.
The scary thing is her passport was in it but the US embassy(she from the US) got it straightend out.
He got a credit card also, they quickly cancelled. She had about 2 euros, they had about 6 between them(debit cards for emergency) just headed home that afternoon.

Youth hostels were higher there than many places, still about 10 euros. Street food was pretty cheap, our daughter knows how to travel cheaply and how to be safe, but I do worry.
