Thanks for the kind words on the CV Guide.
I've known Don for 40 years . . . I don't know how he talked me into editing the book but there you go.
Yes, he knows his stuff. And he's like a terrier when he wants something done . . like getting that book out in time for the Southampton, UK, boat show to catch the folks headed south from there.
Don believes in old-fashioned stuff like boom preventers and cleats. He's been writing about the route to and from the Caribbean for 50 years,. Probably saved countless lives. He's been in the marine insurance business almost as long as Lloyds, so he gets to see the claim information . . you know, the details that somehow don't make it into the yachting press about how many disasters there are every year everywhere.
I sent him your comment from Hampton about being glad you followed his advice. He forwarded it to all the magazine editors. In the same email he said his wife told him to stop counting after he found he could name 40 friends or acquaintances who had been lost at sea between the US Eastern Seabord and the West Indies.
He still draws a crowd at his seminars at the Annapolis show.
Senegal, eh? What the heck is the attraction there? I guess the westerlies would take him at least to the Azores this time of year, then south on the Portuguese Trades?
I hope you have a sweet run to, where, Antigua?
