Hey Jeremy,
Had a brief little chat with Don at the Annapolis show, he's definitely quite the character... He certainly knows his stuff, his advice about sailing south to the islands from the East coast - and the high risk of doing so via Bermuda, rather than departing from the Chesapeake or Morehead City - has certainly been borne out this season... It's a real pity his work doesn't seem to have a wider audience among the current crop of kroozers, most of the rally gang I've been hanging out with lately appear to have only a vague notion of who he is, some know as much as he sailed some engineless old tub, and has a predilection for Heineken, but that's about it... (grin)
Wonder what he would make of the guy rafted alongside me here in St. Georges... His plan is to leave here, and sail straight for SENEGAL... Don't have my pilot charts or Cornell's CRUISING ROUTES handy at the moment, but that sure sounds like an uphill battle this time of the year to me, no?
best regards,
Jon
