Whenever I fill the tank, I use a filter ...

I switched a few years ago from the Baja to the Racor RFF15C (thanks Jon for the recommendation) it's easier to use & clean. I use the filter every time I take on fuel, every time, no mater where it comes from, although we get 95% of our fuel in the Bahamas. I know that seems like overkill, but as Max says if you only fill the tank once a season, what's the big deal ? Then I know I'm getting clean fuel. I've thought about a polishing system, but for me it seems like more things to go wrong and leak from. I do have a vacuum gauge that I watch like a hawk, it rarely moves, but I simply change the Racor filter at the start of every season, and I change the engine filter every other year. I run 2 micron filters in both because because if I have a problem, I want to stop it at Racor and not the engine, this keeps my engine filter cleaner. Every several years, I empty the tank, clean it, polish the fuel that comes out at the dock, or just go buy new fuel. I add BioBor to the fuel and store my boat with a full tank. So far, this has worked well for us without the bells & whistles. On the other hand, I've always thought a second Racor filter, and a polishing system would be nice to have. Once I do have a problem, I'm sure I'll go that route. Cheers, John
